Notes from Nottingham – August 16, 2018

Hi Everyone!

I can’t believe it’s already Thursday! I’ve enjoyed meeting more students, families and staff, and I especially enjoyed meeting several of our rising kindergartners at the play-date last Saturday. Students can help me get to know them by completing a simple “Tell Dr. Gardner About You” online form that can be found here. The direct link for the form is:

Remember, our final playdate is set for August 25, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, at Nottingham. I’ll there and am happy to open some kindergarten classrooms so our students can take a peek inside!

I am really looking forward to next Thursday, August 23, when our full staff returns so I can start to get to know them as well.

Next Tuesday, August 21 is our Meet and Greet activity night, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. If you haven’t already done so, please RSVP, so we can accurately plan for materials —craft and cookie decorating supplies, and the food truck. The direct link to RSVP is:

Be on the lookout for Classroom Assignment letters which will be sent via email on August 27. We have a great staff here! Many factors have been taken into consideration when making student placements. I’m confident you will trust our decisions. Bus transportation letters will be sent to your homes directly by the APS Transportation Department.

Our Open House is on August 30. Kindergartners are welcome at 8:45 AM, and rising 1st – 5th graders should plan to be here around 9:00 AM. Please stop by to meet teachers and drop off supplies. If you are new to Arlington, please stop by for a quick welcome session at 8:30AM, in the library. We hope you can make it, but if you are still away on vacation, no need to worry. We will be happy to greet you on the first day of school, September 4.

I am really looking forward to the next few weeks and the school year to come.
