Notes from Nottingham – August 28, 2018

Hello Families,

It has been such a positive and exciting start to the year! Teachers are back and are attending staff development, meeting with teams to discuss and plan for the first weeks of school and prepare classrooms for your arrival. We have been working hard to get the building ready for our open house this Thursday, August 30 (8:45 for K and 9:00 for grades 1-5) and hope to see many of you there. Families new to Arlington Public Schools are invited at 8:30 for a brief orientation prior to the open house. The clinic staff will be available August 27-August 31 9AM -4PM if you would like to avoid the rush and drop off medication and paperwork for the upcoming school year.

Our placement letters were sent electronically yesterday. Thank you all for being understanding and patient as we work through the technological kinks and ensure we have updated emails for families. If you did not get the email, feel free to call to find out who your child will have for homeroom.

A very special thank you to our outstanding custodial team, Dilma Reyes, Rolando Posada, Ana Mendoza and Noe Corada for all their hard work, moving furniture and making Nottingham sparkle in preparation for our students next Tuesday.

Thank you to all our volunteers who have come in for breakfast, lunches and the meet and greet last week. It’s because of you that we can do so many wonderful things to appreciate and welcome our families and staff to the 2018-2019 school year. A special thank you to Stacy Rosenthal for getting volunteers for the meet and greet. We really appreciate everyone who helped with the event, especially Sampak Garg, Megan Roe, Kristen Alcorta, Indu Spugnardi , Janna Tranfa, Kim Fortin, Elizabeth Ingram and Indu Spugnardi for signing up to help as well as everyone else to jumped in where needed. It helped make the night a huge success.

Also thank you to Lisa Solinger for setting up our delicious staff breakfast on Thursday, August 23. And, thank you in advance to the PTA volunteers who are helping with the staff lunch on Wednesday. We really appreciate it!

Thanks again,

Eileen Gardner
Principal
