Principal’s Notes from Nottingham

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Thursday, September 1st Annual Open House and “A Knight to Remember” Open House.

Mr. Koutsouftikis and I look forward to seeing all Nottingham families at our annual Open House to be held on:

  • Thursday, September 1st – Members of the Nottingham Community of Learners will have a chance to visit their new classroom and meet their teacher.
  • Kindergarten Open House is from 8:45-9:45 a.m.
  • Knights in grades 1-5 may stop by for a “Meet and Greet” from 9:00-9:45 a.m.

Consider attending my Principal’s “Meet and Greet” before our Knight to Remember event from 4:30 – 5:15 p.m. in the library.  Child care will be provided.

A Knight to Remember
Members of the Nottingham Community of Learners are invited to a Back to School Celebration, “A Knight to Remember.” Reconnect with old friends and make new ones! Please plan to pack a picnic dinner for the whole family and bring your blanket, lawn chairs, and favorite lawn games for some good old-fashioned fun. This event will take place on Thursday, September 1st ,from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.  Note: This is not a drop-off event; parents should plan to stay to supervise and socialize.  (No alcoholic beverages, please.)

Ice cream and popcorn vendors will be on hand selling treats. For those who prefer indoor entertainment, we hope you’ll join us beginning at 6:15 p.m. to join your child in watching the movie, Zootopia. Please see below for Common Sense Media’s reviews on this family friendly fun:

Return of iPads
We look forward to seeing you at Open House!  In preparation for the school year, we are asking 3rd and 4th grade Knights that took their iPad home for the summer to please bring it back to the library after the Open House.  Please make sure to also bring their charger.  If you are not able to come to Open House with your child, please have them bring their iPad and charger back to school on the first day.  Here is a timely article for parents concerned about social media use with children and teenagers:  Preparing for Back to School in the Age of Technology | Caron Treatment Centers from Caron Treatment

.Library Open House

Please join Ms. Koehler for the last Nottingham Library Open house of the summer:  Tuesday, August 23rd, 5:30 – 7 p.m.  Knights are invited to come exchange their books for new ones and update Ms. Koehler on their summer reading.   She would love to hear which books your children enjoyed reading and get their suggestions of books to read.  Your child can have up to ten (10) books checked out at a time.  Parents, you can check out books for your own reading pleasure on your child’s account.Teacher Placement Letters will be mailed out on, Tuesday, August 30th. We look forward to seeing you/ your child bright and early on Tuesday, September 6th as we join our Knights as they embark on a year of academic and socio- emotional growth!
