Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you! You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.

Read Across America Day – March 2, 2017
I spent time this morning at the Dr. Seuss gallery in the library joining fellow Knights trying on Seussian attire! We are excited to announce that Read Across America Day is coming! This Thursday, March 2nd, we will be joining schools across the country to celebrate a love of reading and the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Knights will be invited to show their love of reading by dressing up as a favorite book character.
The class that has the most participation will receive a trip to Nottingham’s ImagiLAB to participate in some Seuss-themed STEM activities. Please join us in encouraging your child to think about his/her favorite books and see what you can pull out of the dress-up box at home! Use of Front Playground from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. on School Days
The Extended Day Program is not able to use the front playground after school because of the number of children staying after school and playing. Specifically, there is a concern with lack of supervision during this time period. Therefore, we are asking parents/guardians to refrain from using this play area from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. so that it is available for the Extended Day Program’s use. This playground is essential to the Extended Day Program as it is considered a part of their instructional space. It is important for them to have use of the space on a daily basis. As many of you are aware, the Extended Day Program also uses the back playground area. We acknowledge that our Knights and their parents/guardians would like a place to play after school so please note that the back playground and the field areas are available for supervised play.
Thank you for your consideration as we manage shared usage of the front playground area.

This past weekend’s weather makes it easier to think that it is time to plan for the summer of 2017! I wanted to call your attention to the APS Summer School Catalog. This link will lead you to the Elementary School Catalog, Application Form, List of Summer School Fees, etc. Those parents/guardians interested in the Summer Laureate Program can click on the following link. This is a link to what Summer Laureate looked like last year if parents are interested. http://summerlaureateaps.weebly.com/.
Superintendent’s Proposed Budget for FY 2018
(Our very own Dr. McCormac has a short cameo in the video!) The FY18 budget focuses on maintaining investments in meeting the needs of all students – academically, emotionally, physically and socially. This video can serve as a good reminder of the collective vision and mission of our work with our Knights.
