School Crossing GuardRegarding:  Sewer Work in the Nottingham Neighborhood

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Thank you for your concerns regarding the work that is currently in progress off of Little Falls Road. I wanted to assure that you that Nottingham’s front office staff had been in touch with the Sagress Construction Corporation who has been contracted out to repair the main sewer lines in the vicinity.  The Arlington County Inspector was made aware of our safety concerns regarding dismissal yesterday afternoon as well as arrival and dismissal today.

Local residents received notification from the Arlington County Water, Sewer and Streets Bureau of the upcoming Sanitary Sewer Installation/Upgrade.  A Construction Management Specialist came into the office to notify us that they would be delivering equipment for sewer work that would continue for approximately two weeks.  We requested that they could begin work at 9:00 a.m. due to our Knights walking to school.  It was shared that that was not possible.

This morning APS Facilities checked in with Sagress Construction about the sidewalk closure on the south side of Little Falls Road at Nottingham Street.  Sagress has been helpful in working to expedite the road repairs and plans to have the sidewalk open by 3:00 p.m. today.  If the work is not completed in time they will have a person stationed at the crosswalk in front of Nottingham to direct students across Little Falls Road away from the road construction on the south side of Little Falls Road at Nottingham Street.  Knights may utilize the crosswalk at John Marshall Drive if they need to return to the south side of Little Falls Street.  No sidewalks will be blocked for school tomorrow. We will continue to monitor the situation to ensure safety for our Knights.

** Please join Mr. Koutsouftikis and me, along with our school Safety and Wellness Coordinator, PE teacher Mike Giusto, in recognizing the efforts of our school safety crossing guards.  Thank you for continuing to model for your children and encouraging them to follow our crossing guards’ directions in the mornings!   Mr. Stuckie – Little Falls and Ohio, Mr. Covel – 30th and Ohio and Ms. Noonan (temporarily assigned to Little Falls and John Marshall.)

Thank you for being a partner in your child’s education.
