Nottingham students at every grade level receive Visual Art instruction. Art Education is an integral part of the core curriculum and provides students with unique experiences not taught in other core areas. Art is a powerful tool for expression, making connections between intellect and emotion, bringing meaning and beauty into our lives, providing a foundation for solving problems and communicating ideas. Art is an essential part of human history and provides a foundation for understanding the present as well as the future. Participating in art experiences enhances self-esteem, builds self-discipline, and reinforces societal values. At Nottingham, Standards Based Grading is implemented as a method of assessment that allows teachers, students, and parents to clearly communicate about specific areas of strength and need. Standards based instruction aligns lessons with the Virginia’s Standards of Learning.

Hello Nottingham families! I have been at Nottingham since 2008. I grew up in Northern Virginia and went to all Virginia schools for my Art Education degrees. In my free time, I love to go to the Kennedy Center, practice painting, photography, and metal jewelry. I also love to read books, garden, focus on healthy eating, and exercising. I’m looking forward to a great school year!
