Our Mission
The mission of Nottingham’s library program is to teach students how to be informed consumers and producers of information, to expose the school community to a diverse range of high-quality reading material, and to enrich and extend the classroom curriculum. We strive to create a community of enthusiastic learners and readers. We welcome students, staff, and parents to the library and hope they take advantage of its many resources.
Our Policies
Nottingham students visit the library once a week as a class for book check out. If students have the maximum number of books checked out to them on the day that their class visits the library and do not return any books, they will not be able to check out more books. We are happy to “hold” books that students want until their books come back. While we encourage students to borrow books from the library, we also want them to learn to return books so that others may enjoy them. We do not charge overdue fees for books; however, there is a replacement fee if books are lost or damaged. Students are invited to visit the library before or after school 8:35-3:50 to check out books, in addition to the regularly scheduled library time. The library is generally open before and after school, and students are more than welcome to return and check out books during that time period.
- Kindergarten and first-grade students may check out a maximum of 3 books at a time.
- Second through fifth-grade students may check out a maximum of 5 books at a time.
