Welcome to the wonderful world of 2nd grade! Second grade is an important year for learning and growing while helping students learn to become more independent and responsible! Our main goal in 2nd Grade is to provide a nurturing and rich learning environment for your child while helping them reach their full potential. With Responsive Classroom as an important part of our classrooms, we value our 2nd graders’ social and emotional growth to be equally important as their academic growth. My name is Maurice Katoen and have been part of the Nottingham community since 1992-1993 school year and with APS since 1991. I have taught first, second, and third grade, all here at Nottingham. I received both my undergraduate and master’s degree from George Mason University. I was born in Colombia S.A. and I am fluent in Spanish. My mother taught Spanish in Arlington for 26 years, both at Williamsburg and Wakefield. I love to travel, play the handbells at my church, and spend time with my family and friends. My wife and I live in Centreville with our fur baby Rosey. Go Knights!
